The
role of blogs in film industry – productions and distributions
A
blog is basically a journal that is available on the web. The activity of
updating a blog is called blogging and someone who keeps the blog is called a
blogger. Blogs are typically updated daily using software that allows people
with little or no technical background to update and maintain the blog.
Postings on a blog are almost always arranged in chronological order with the
most recent additions feature most prominently.
By
sharing helpful advice through blog posts, McEwan says, “you will position
yourself as an expert and trustworthy go-to person in your field”.
Additionally, blogs can help market businesses or companies, products or services, and
even to promote and create awareness of the movie, by placing movie trailers on
the blog, trailers are considered to be film advertisements, which is usually released
weeks or months before a certain film will be released for public viewing.
Another thing about movie trailers is that they are made in order to make the
public be aware of what they should expect from the film and make them curious
to see it. Moreover, bloggers may do a review about the overall movies, and
they can also talk about the actors and actress that play in that particular
movie. Blog is a significant tool of social media, since blog post can be
shared across multiple social networks. If people around the world find your
blog helpful, then you will get a whole lot of attention on it.
Blogging
also boosts search engine optimization for your website, McEwan says, as it
offers repeat opportunities to utilize keywords on your site. Blog posts, she
emphasizes, are frequently found on the first page of Google searches. The more
blog posts you have out there, the more traffic is going to be generated and
the more leads your business will receive.
Moreover, Production
includes pre-production, production and postproduction. In general, the
preproduction phase encompasses all aspects of preparation that are performed
before the camera starts to roll. Some aspects of preproduction include;
screenwriting, storyboarding, funding, casting and scheduling. Production
Phase, the production phase refers to the period of time when the film is
actually being shot. Some aspects of production include: direction, camera
operation, lighting and sound recording. Moreover, postproduction, SpliceVine
is one of the examples of postproduction blog, the author is Eric Wise, he
covers different video editing and post production subjects each month and
often features expert guest writers. The content focuses on delivery and
transmedia as well as editing and color grading. People can get the free email
newsletter, as well as the SpliceVine monthly postproduction podcasts.
In
the film industry there is called distributors blog. Distribution is the highly
competitive business of launching and sustaining films in the market place. Film
do not become talking points or find their place in the world, by accident. The
distributor’s challenge is to bring each one to market by identifying its
audience, considering why they’d go and see it, estimating the revenue
potential across all the formats of its release, persuading exhibitors (cinema
operators) to play the film, developing plans and partnerships to build
awareness of and interest in the film and aiming to convert as much interest as
possible into cinema visits.
